What little things work for you and what doesn't? Is it myth or fact? Post up your ideas here.

I took this from the Shade board. Abel explains the use of weapon and spell combos. [In his unique way] Anyway it's good food for thought.

1. always enter the portal with a full pack of golden potions and your mana topped out
2. always stay close to the walls, as you enter just go the three spaces to the north, then move east or west to a corner, corners are very good places to be in each of the first three portal rooms as the bugs and hound rarely move to the corners in force
3. as soon as your down 80 HP, drink a potion, followed by casting and making another
4. learn what your character can handle in terms of damage load - I can handle three hounds or four bugs and still maintain a full pack of potions but I cant really do anything else, and eventually I will be overwhelmed because my mana regen is just to slow, once you learn how many portal monsters on your screen equals danger then you must learn to run in whatever direction they are not directly after drinking a pot
5. if your mortal and will be hunting or doing anything in the portal with a lich stick to using your weapons only, never cast a spell that can splash
6. if you know you are going to be in one spot for any length of time then start dropping golden pots - this is especially important when your planniing on trapping and killing something in the one lane path as often additional hounds or bugs will arrive and start to harrass you, having extra pots on the ground makes your staying power that much better
7. never, ever hit a bug unless it is completley surrounded by players - all you do is cause another bug to appear and they both start to attack - do it more than once death awaits
the more time you spend in there the easier it gets but seriously BalTor and beyond the portal are the only places I get excited in this game anymore, for those that can recall getting that fat adrenaline rush from your first run to bal rak then tor is the only place to be as tangling with whats in there can give you that same feeling"

The Shade Board (http://www.cgshade.com/board/index.php) - General (http://www.cgshade.com/board/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2) -- a question for grimm (http://www.cgshade.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=3048)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by enrage on 10-25-2005 09:47 AM: a question for grimm
hey grimm, in a thread sometime back you stated that a level 5 once stumbled into one of those "unfound secrets" of the game.
now i can guess that the level 5 char didnt quite know what he stumbled into and im am sure you are not about to give his(or her) name away because if that char still plays the game it is his(or her) "find" and only he (or she) has the right to share his(or her) finding in a time that he(or she) sees fit if that char even is aware that he(or she) even remembers where that "find" is.....
now because i am sure you choose not to answer question that will give answers i will word the question in a way that will not give any real answers but just make more question for us all to try and solve.
my questions are these, if you feel that you may or maynot be able to answer the question or you see fit that we even have the right to ask this question......
does this char still play shade? and if so has this char revisited this "unfound secret"(if that is even possible due to which kind of unfound secret was found) since he(or she) found this "unfound secret"(and can we contuine even calling the "unfound secret" unfound in the event it was found and revisited)?
last question, is there more "unfound secrets" other than the one that was found by this level 5 char?
to keep the illusion simple a yes or no answer will be more than enough info and no more will i ask in reguards to this, thank.
and in the event you choose not to answers these questions please close this thread

wow, definitely one of the most diplomatically worded requests I've seen in a long time! Very nice. How could I refuse such consideration?
Yep player is still in game
nope I don't think they knew what they had stumbled through
nope they haven't been through since; and that particular goodie has since changed
yep Shade still holds as-yet undiscovered secrets
and with time we will release information to help guide you to some of these secrets when their role is ready to be played out. If they were discovered now most would seem to be an anomoly of some kind
How was that?

Best info I seen yet about shade. Sure opened up my eyes and frontiers. Maps only locate, but strategy and how too is ultimate. Been playing over a year and a half and just realize how much I had missed out on the basics. And if that wasn't hard enough getting pk'ed all over the place.

Glad it helped! The Shade board does not have too many posters who are teachers anymore. I suppose it is because they have been playing for so long they forget there are others out there who are still learning.
