Narrator's note:
I want to first of all thank RAIVEN for inspiring me to put my tales to paper. This is the character story of Crisis, a young warrior that slowly fell into the darkness. He learned quickly not to fear it but to embrace it, accept it, and later use it to his advantage. Please be patient with me as the device I use to access this forum only allows me to post a limited number of letters. It will take long to finish but it will be worth the read.

I am Crisis. When I was among the living I had a name and love ones. Neither hold any meaning to me now. These are my stories told through my eyes and written by by hands. I will take you back as far as my memory serves me and bring you into the present. These tales won't end as long as Lord Chaos grants me the power of the life after life.

My childhood is not something I share with ease. I have nothing to tell. My hardships left me very little of what you'd call an upbringing. I try everyday to forget my earliest memory.
I remember hearing the screech of the wagon's wheels as it came to a stop. I recall feeling a touch. A cold sensation reaching from the darkness that grabbed me flung me off the wagon and threw me down to the earth below.
As I looked up to see the wagon speed away, the merciful soul who was driving it threw a backpack towards me before vanishing into the shadows. My senses took time to adjust. I sat for hours before becoming conscious of the fact I was alone. I picked up the backpack and walked towards the gates of the huge castle and the town that surrounded it. I barely understood how to read or write but as I looked above me to see the town sign- "Byrendell". I felt safe.
The Sun dawned in the sky as I made my way across the bridge and to the town walls. I was stopped immediately by the two town sentries. One of the large men smiled and said to the other "let the lad through, I doubt he has killed 50 people". They raised their lances and I was allowed entry. Even early in the morning this town damn near rattled from its inhabitants. My curiosity got the best of me quickly. I flowed with the crowd and drifted off into the local pub.
What kind of town does not notice a three year old boy entering a pub!? Byrendell.
I pulled on the clothes of several adult warriors but not one bothered to give me more than a smile. Some were extra kind enough to spare a lash or two. I gave up and found a corner to sit in. I can remembering removing and beginning to search the backpack I was thrown to me. The first thing I pulled out was a child's picture book titled "Help".

The book was pretty simple to understand. I was taught about towns, fencing, spells and how to use a device for messaging all from the pictures. This book was truly the greatest gift any orphan or badstard could wish for. I could only hope what else the pack held could amount up to this great gift of mine.
Next I reached in and pulled out my P-Messenger device the book had described. It did not have any value to me yet and quickly fount a nice home in my back pocket.

I reached in and pulled out several more items out of the pack. A small card that read "I'm Zeus" "TID number 0" and a small pouch were the most notable. I was foolish then not realizing I should have not opened the pouch in this place but I did and out came a 100 piece gold coin. Now one of the adult warriors had noticed me and I had not noticed him back til i was being yanked by my collar from behind.

I looked up to see a large man as he clutched my neck from behind.
"Come with me kid" He mumbled as he hauled me off through the rear exit of the pub. Being only at the age of three I had no way of defending myself but I had enough common sense to know that the consequences would be severe if i tried to take off running. I was seated in the back of his wagon as we rode up to a quite large worn down ranch on the outskirts of town.

As if the stench from the roads leading to the ranch weren't horrible enough; the malodor of the ranch itself made the that of the roads seem heavenly. I was told by my kidnapper that this would be the home of my clan; {*!*} and I would serve them until he said otherwise. I was returned to me my backpack and escorted of to the room I'd be staying for if not the rest of my life.

Its funny, I can't even remember my master's name but I guess it has no real value to me now anyway. The first day I woke up as a slave was the longest day of my life. Working the land of this place was harsh enough..my master's fencing training was even more sereve. I was given basic equipment; a short sword, and some very basic leather armor. This would be my life for the next two years. Day in and day out. Work the land and train. I was being raised a militant.

By the time I was at the age of 5 I became a full-feldge fighter. Every weekend my master and I visited the neighboring town of Coradale to buy supplies and armory for the clan. I knew I had become his favorite since I was the one he always chosed to travel with him. This weekend would be no different, as we prepared our wagon and steeds to make our way into town. This weekend he should have left me home...

We rode into town pass the fountain square. It didn't take long for us to find a cheap empty stable to park in as this town was not as busy as Byrendell. We dismounted our steeds and made our way to the blacksmith and armourer's shops. Since I was only 5 I was not allowed to enter such places so as usual I was told by my master to wait by the fountain until he returned with the boxes. It was always fun for me to admire the grown up warriors that gathered by the fountain.

They sparred, quarreled, sung, and spoke of tales I never could imagine, nonetheless they were of marvel to me. Today the fountain square would be empty though so I thought it would be a good time to shadow-spar. I unholstered my short sword and began to practice.
A few minutes into my routine I was surprised to the sound of clapping coming from behind me, I swung around immediately to spot from where the noise had came. My eyes met a stranger; an adult warrior dressed in armor I've never seen before.

He made his way slowly towards me. His face veiled from the dark hood he wore.
"Very, very nice lad" he spoke "What is your name?"
"Z...Ze...Zeus" I finally managed to speak out, as I never seen a warrior of his caliber before. His presence alone terrified me.
"Well Zeus.." he spoke again "My name is Gridlock. You are quite the young swordsman I must say. Best for your age that is.. Wait. How old are you Zeus?"
"Five sir."
"Oh my stars! Five!? Are you serious lad? Wow."

"So tell me lad" he continued. "Who are you here with?"
I pointed my finger over to the stables where we had parked our wagon for him to see.
"I recognize that wagon. Santa Maria; you couldn't belong to him could you boy!?"
I nodded.
"Zeus, my lad. I had no idea... We must get you away from him. Quickly." Gridlock removed his backpack and hastly searched inside. He removed a tightly-folded mage's robe and handed it to me. "Quickly Zeus, put this on over your armor."
