I wrote this for the Shade Board and now use it as tribute of sorts to Jurnyman, one of the true 'dragon hunters of Shade'.
Dragons
Dragons are ultimately symbols of power, strength and magic. They are seen in most cultures. They inhabit the land, the sea and the sky. They are ethereal and mystical; feared and revered.
When asked where to hunt? The dragons are always a popular choice. Within the game we have four levels of dragons (known) so there is a dragon to challenge every skill level. So why choose the dragon over the demon or elf? It is quicker and easier to kill a dark elf ranger and the drop is probably going to be worth more than what a young dragon or lesser drops. So why bother?
Because you have to dance the dragon's dance.
Many players use text to play the game and all they see is @ against D. Do you think that is actually true?? No not really. Somewhere is a great imagined beast, wondrous and fearsome. Somewhere dressed in armour and wielding a weapon and magic is the valiant warrior face to face with a foe that will challenge every facet of his character. Can you fear a D? Yes, oh yes, oh yes.
Ultimately fighting a dragon is fight of honour. They are terrible, awesome foes and perhaps even evil, but majestic and glorious as well.
And.......sometimes the dragon wins
